Each year, we carry out our Qurban Appeal, a deeply embedded tradition of compassion, aiming to provide sustenance for widows and orphaned families who face immense challenges daily. We continue to rally behind the most vulnerable, offering them the essential lifeline of meat and food distribution.
Last year, we were able to provide Qurban to nearly two thousand impoverished families and orphans across Afghanistan.

What does Qurban mean?
Qurban, often also spelled as ''Qurbani,' is an Arabic term that means sacrifice. It refers to the Islamic tradition of sacrificing an animal in the way of Allah (SWT). The practice is performed during Eid-ul-Adha, which is one of the two major Islamic festivals and marks the end of Hajj (the pilgrimage to Mecca). This ritual commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in Christian and Jewish traditions) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
Who needs to perform Qurban?
Qurban is generally obligatory for adult Muslims who are of sound mind and can afford it. Essentially, if a Muslim has wealth beyond their necessary expenses and that wealth meets a certain minimum threshold, known as Nisab, they are required to perform Qurban. However, it's always good to remember that the specifics can vary based on different interpretations of Islamic law, and it's always recommended to consult a knowledgeable person or authority in your community if you're unsure.
What day will the Qurban be performed?
Qurban is performed during the festival of Eid-ul-Adha, which takes place on the 10th day of the last (twelfth) month in the Islamic lunar calendar, Dhu al-Hijjah. The sacrifice can be made on the day of Eid-ul-Adha and the two following days.
