Nowruz, the Afghan New Year, is a time of joy and celebration. Nowruz brings together families and friends as they share gifts, food and lasting memories. As it coincides with the start of the new school year in Afghanistan, it is traditionally a time when fathers gift their children items for the upcoming school year. But in a country torn apart by war with over 2 million orphan children, there will be many who will not experience the celebration and joy that goes with Nowruz.
