Emergency Winter Appeal 2022
As a dry winter approaches, weak harvest, drought and food security are inevitable in Afghanistan. The UN has predicted that almost 14 million children won't have enough food to eat. They warn that over 1 million Afghan children could die from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) unless they get URGENT treatment.
With so many families displaced after a harrowing year of disaster, upheaval and uncertainty, giving has never been more needed this season.
The most vulnerable community members include widows and their children who face the harsh reality of going hungry and enduring the freezing conditions without sufficient resources.
With an estimated 50% of the population living below the poverty line, many are left to brace the freezing cold with scarce food supplies, and struggling to keep warm.
Plagued with extreme and unforgiving weather, this winter brings great suffering to the growing number of disadvantaged Afghan families, particularly those who have been forced to flee and now seek refuge in camps .
We urge you to think of the vulnerable this festive season and donate generously to provide them with much needed relief.
With your support, Mahboba’s Promise will continue to focus it’s efforts to provide food, shelter and warmth to the growing number of displaced communities in our camp in Kabul with daily food packages and monthly food supplies including:
- Freshwater
- Warm clothing
- Blankets and
- Firewood
These will help them survive the bitter winter months ahead.

Winter in Afghanistan is severe, especially for those living in extreme poverty. At times these packages are the difference between life and death, particularly for young children.
