TRANSFORM THE FUTURES OF ORPHANS AND WOMEN IN AFGHANISTAN

Rewrite the future of Afghan children – Your EOFY gift can be their lifeline

Afghanistan is facing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, with nearly half the population, requiring urgent assistance in 2025. Among them, women and children are disproportionately affected, facing extreme food insecurity, lack of access to healthcare and limited access to education.

Your EOFY donation to Mahboba’s Promise is more than just a contribution, it’s a lifeline. It directly supports our programs that provide education, healthcare, and shelter to those who need it most. Together, we can help rewrite the future for Afghan women and children.

Meet Razia – A dream born from pain

Razia is only 11 years old, but the sorrow she carries could fill a lifetime.

Her father, Mohammadi, is a 70-year-old man. Time has slowed him, and life has worn him down. Years ago, his wife, Lajori, stood up for herself. In the year 2021, she asked her brothers for her rightful share of inheritance. She was pregnant at the time. Instead of receiving justice, she was met with brutality. Her brothers, enraged by her courage, beat her so violently that she lost her life and her unborn child.

Ten young children were left behind. Ten little lives forever changed by one act of cruelty.

Razia was one of them.

Her elderly father, with a heart heavy and hands too tired to provide, could not care for them all. He couldn’t afford food, education, or the guidance they needed. He did what no father ever wishes to do, he let Razia go, not out of rejection, but out of love, hoping she would find what he could no longer give.

She was taken into the care of Badakhshan Hope House, where for the first time in a long time, she found safety. Now in Grade 7, Razia is determined to rise above the pain of her past. She studies hard, dreams big, and speaks with the quiet strength of someone who has seen too much but refuses to be defeated.

When asked what she wants to become, she doesn’t hesitate.

“A doctor,” she says.

To heal. To protect. To be the help her mother never received.

Razia’s journey is one of heartbreak, but also of unshakable hope. With the right support, her future can be far brighter than her past. And through your compassion, her dream can become a reality.

Meet Samea – A mother’s resilience amidst adversity

Samea’s life is a testament to unwavering strength and determination. A single mother to five children, Samea has faced the harsh realities of life in Afghanistan, yet she continues to persevere for the sake of her family.

Samea’s eldest son, Rafi (22), migrated to Iran to support the household. Zakaria (19) graduated high school and is preparing for the Kankor exam. Yahya (17) works at a fruit market, while Shafi (15) is in 11th grade and also works as a tailor. Her daughter, Khadija (14), was forced to quit school due to the Taliban restrictions but now studies at a religious center and practices sewing.

The financial assistance provided by Mahboba’s Promise supporters is crucial for Samea’s family. Every month, she collects essential food items such as flour, oil, sugar, beans, and rice, which are vital for their survival. This support ensures that Samea can meet her family’s basic needs and provide them with the necessary resources to thrive.

However, despite the support, Samea faces ongoing challenges. The family has limited access to fuel, which is essential for heating during the winter months.

Additionally, considering that her daughter, Khadija is unable to attend school due to Taliban-imposed restrictions on girls’ education, Samea strives to empower her daughter by providing her with the means to earn an income. Her dream is to be able to purchase sewing materials so Khadija can produce and sell clothing. This initiative would not only support the family’s financial needs but also equip Khadija with valuable skills for the future.

Samea’s unwavering dedication to her family’s well-being is testament to her strength and determination. With continued support, Samea and her children can look forward to a future filled with opportunities and empowerment.
