QURBAN APPEAL
Qurban is a significant time of the year that allows us to improve the nutritional intake of children in need, often providing families with nutritious meat who have been unable to afford it for several months or years.
WHY IS QURBAN IMPORTANT FOR DISADVANTAGED FAMILIES IN AFGHANISTAN?
The first 5 years of a child’s life are the most important years for physical and neurological development. In this crucial period, the child’s brain consumes 50-75% of all energy absorbed from good food and nutrition. A child who does not receive the nutrition he or she needs is at risk of stunted cognitive, as well as physical, development. And yet, around the world, at least 150 million children suffer from stunting and millions more are at risk from poor nutrition.
GIVE QURBANI TO A FAMILY IN NEED
Last year we were able to provide Qurban to over a thousand impoverish families and orphans across six different regions of Afghanistan – Kabul, Panjshir, Takhar, Parwan, Badakhshan, and Banyan.
SACRIFICE A COW
Make a group donation and Mahboba’s Promise will sacrifice an entire cow. Sacrificing a cow will produce a greater yield for families in need, meaning higher-quality meat will be distributed to a greater amount of people in need.
SACRIFICE A SHEEP
Mahboba’s Promise will sacrifice a high-quality sheep on your behalf, and then distribute it to disadvantaged families.
A MESSAGE FROM MAHBOBA
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,Widows are one of the most vulnerable groups in Afghanistan, often struggling to enter the workforce and provide for their families. Children in these situations are often deprived of nutritious food, including meat consumption.
As we know, a nutritious diet in the first 5 years of life is essential for the physical and cognitive development of a child. It is our responsibility to feed these children in need this Qurban.
This Eid al-Adha, think of these children, and dig deep to allow them to participate in Qurban and receive the rare gift of nutritious meat.
