20th Anniversary Gala Dinner

My dear friends,

My heartfelt thanks to those who attended the Fundraising Gala dinner on Saturday 24^th February and to all those who contributed to the success of the event.

I have always considered myself blessed with the generosity of the Australian people who support my projects in Afghanistan, but I was overwhelmed by the assistance we received for our 20^th Anniversary dinner through donations, sponsorships and volunteering. We could not have done this without you all. Carol Flanagan, your effort has been stellar.

I especially want to thank Her Excellency Dame Quentin Bryce for coming from Queensland and saying such lovely words on the night. To our wonderful keynote speakers, Elizabeth Broderick, Julian Burnside QC and the Ambassador of Afghanistan HE Wahidullah Waissi, your messages were inspirational. Virginia Haussegger, you did an amazing job as MC, thank you so much my dear friend.

I am happy to report that we raised just over $50,000 for the two projects in Badakhshan: the new Hope House building and the Maternity Clinic. Our work is not done however, as we double our efforts to raise an additional $55,000 needed for the two projects.
