Our staff and volunteers are all local in Afghanistan. This is our home and these are our people. We are preparing for the worst. But continue to fight for a brighter tomorrow.

The UN estimates 1.25m people have been displaced and numbers increase daily.
We are focusing our efforts on the needs of the 900+ families that have set up camp outside Kabul and the Panjshir Valley community who have no access to food and basic needs. The number of displaced orphans, widows and families grows daily.

We have activated our response in Panshjir valley after the devastating news of the attack on September 5th. We are supplying food and basic needs to a community of over 1,000 people that we look after in this region. This number continues to grow.
We are currently supporting 900+ displaced families who have set up in the camp outside Kabul close to our orphanage. We are on the ground, providing emergency shelter, food and water parcels, medical and hygiene essentials, water tanks, clothing and other emergency items.
We are actively relocating families, widows and children to safer regions and providing safe passage for some to return to extended family in their hometowns.
Our Hope Houses continue to provide refuge and safety to ensure our orphans are protected and out of harm’s way.
There are many still in imminent danger and in need of our immediate assistance. The situation is volatile and changes daily. Our response is dynamic as we react to people’s needs as every day unfolds.
We urgently need your help to scale up our supplies, resources, manpower, security and transport as the situation worsens.

An important announcement to all our supporters:
Mahboba’s Promise is continuing its work. We were able to access emergency funds in Afghanistan before the bank closures. These funds are facilitating our immediate response and ongoing commitments on the ground.
The situation in Afghanistan is volatile. As at 9th September 2021, the banks in Kabul remain closed and compromise any safe transfer of funds.
All donations to our Emergency Relief Fund will be kept securely in Mahboba’s Promise Australian bank account until the first opportunity to transfer funds back into Afghanistan safely.
In addition to helping those in immediate need, the Emergency Relief Fund hopes to maintain our existing activities and commitments such as our orphanages and schools on the ground in Afghanistan. As things develop, our funds may also need to support refugees arriving from Afghanistan into Australia.
