Livestock project
Livestock Management Program
A unique initiative!
This clever idea works like this - selected widows in rural areas are given a cow in calf. When the calf is born the widow is responsible for raising it to 18 months at which point she must return the calf to Mahboba's Promise. The cow is then hers to keep!
In rural areas the cost of obtaining livestock is beyond the reach of most widows that we support. The widow now has a source of nutrition for her family and a source of income with potential for growth!
We support the widow to help her prepare for the cow with animal husbandry advice and also teach her how to make milk products such as cheese and yoghurt.
