Project Hope Appeal: Your spare change can help satisfy a child’s hunger for education in Afghanistan
For Mohammad Khalid, going to school was the highlight of his day. Like children all over the world, the challenges of learning and the friendships made at school are part of everyday experiences. But for Mohammad Khalid, this was not always the case.
Mohammad Khalid is the youngest of three brothers. He also has three sisters. When his father died in an accident in 2006 the children were left to fend for themselves. With the help of a sponsor through Mahboba’s Promise, he moved to Hazrat Ali Orphanage, and proved to be one of the keenest and smarted students in the class.
My belief is that education and love are the keys to the successful rebuilding of Afghanistan. Education will give children the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life. Through education, they can stand on their own feet with a world of freedom and choice in front of them.
Mahboba’s Promise has successfully educated hundreds of girls and boys through our facilities at Hope House near Kabul, Abdara Girl’s School and Abdara Boy’s School in Panjshir Valley, and Jaghori School in Ghazni Province.
We’ve been able to do this only through the help of our generous Australian supporters. Children like Mohammad Khalid finally have hope for the future.

This month, we are launching our Project Hope Appeal raising funds for our educational projects – from purchasing school shoes and uniforms for students under our care, providing a child’s education kit (pen, paper, books), training teachers, to building bricks and mortar schools.
We have produced Project Hope collection boxes and we’re encouraging everybody to request one and keep it in their home to deposit their spare change. Once the box is full, they can be taken to their local Commonwealth Bank and deposited in our account:
